The story of how Siyeon became a surrogate for an alpha couple was something that happened as unexpectedly as an accident. Like most people in the modern world, his days had been nothing more than a dreary cycle of the same repetitive work.
The print shop where he worked was constantly flooded with rush deadlines. The owner, fixated on cutting labor costs, would dump him with enough work for two or three employees.
Chronic sleep deprivation and all that came with it — he was so worn down by exhaustion that people always told him he looked pale.
It was the same on the day he fell into this godforsaken world.
In the middle of one of his usual all-nighters, fighting off sleep, Siyeon was checking the print quality of the last job of the day — That Alpha’s Trap.
What is this…… Is this some kind of dirty book?
To be fair, when he’d first laid eyes on That Alpha’s Trap, all it had was a plain cover slapped with a red warning sticker, so he’d assumed it was just a high-rated romance novel.
Omega? Alpha? What’s a pheromone…… And what even is a trait-bearer.
He’d been skimming through it without understanding half the words when he noticed that the protagonist’s name — Hong Siyeon — was the same as his own.
On top of that, the novel’s protagonist, ‘omega Hong Siyeon,’ was written as an orphanage kid who grew up with no one to lean on — so he couldn’t help but feel a strange, odd kinship with the character.
One thing leading to another, curiosity got the better of him, and before he knew it he’d been completely sucked into the story — its trashy, over-the-top, spicy developments piling one on top of the other.
They’ll pay off his debts if he becomes a surrogate and bears their child…… tsk.
He hadn’t even read a few pages and already the situation was outrageous from the very start. But there was one thing that stood out above all the rest.
Wait, the two male leads…… are married to each other?
It was a somewhat shocking development that his meager imagination struggled to keep up with.
The setting of the novel apparently allowed same-sex marriage, and the story kicked off when a couple who appeared to be a male-male pair entered into a contract with the protagonist, who was drowning in a mountain of debt.
Wow…… this novel is insane. Can this even be called romance?
Siyeon calmed his startled nerves and continued reading steadily. It seemed like pheromones emanating from the protagonist — described as an otherworldly beauty of the highest order — were completely bewitching the gay couple.
Eat and fuck. Eat and fuck. The cycle repeated over and over — and in the middle of all that, the high-heat sex scenes featuring a protagonist who shared his name gave him a queasy feeling, so honestly, whenever the fucking happened he skimmed through and moved on.
They’re confining her because she doesn’t want to get pregnant…… tsk, what are men with dicks even doing.
Why would you hit the person who came to carry your baby.
Unhinged! At this point, aren’t both of them disqualified as male leads.
The male leads in the novel. That is to say, the insane gay couple was truly…… shameless beyond measure.
They starved and beat the protagonist under the guise of “disciplining” them. Later on, when the protagonist got caught trying to escape, they even broke their legs and shackled them up, locking them inside the house.
They were written with some kind of backstory to justify the male lead label, but they were absolutely awful bastards. There were moments where he was on the verge of dropping the story entirely due to the absurd, depraved developments — but the story itself was so outrageously stimulating that it was hard to stop reading, like a bag of junk food you couldn’t put down.
Later on it seemed like the gay couple were beating each other up, going to war over who got to claim the protagonist — but there was a bigger problem than that.
It wasn’t until it was practically at the climax that he figured out the novel’s true nature.
Wait, the protagonist…… why…… do they have a dick?
The That Alpha’s Trap he’d been so deeply absorbed in was, in fact, a hardcore, depraved, trash-tier BL — a man-on-man novel — and ‘omega Hong Siyeon’ was the one on the bottom, the position known as the ‘sub.’
He only realized that ‘omega Hong Siyeon’ was a male omega after reading up to the part where the heavily pregnant protagonist faced the threat of a miscarriage.
Fuck! His interest dropped off a cliff and he snapped the book shut on the spot.
“Ha…… what on earth did I just read?”
If there was any mistake to be found, it was simply that after finishing the binding of That Alpha’s Trap, he’d dozed off for a moment. While he was half-asleep, the printing machine must have overheated — he heard the crackling sound of sparks catching, and at the same time, the smell of something burning filled the air from all directions.
After losing consciousness in the blaze, the place where Siyeon opened his eyes was right here. The world inside That Alpha’s Trap.
Since he’d only just finished reading it, he was fortunately able to grasp the situation quickly. At first it was hard to believe, but after experiencing bizarre phenomena that simply could not be explained by reality, he had no choice but to accept it.
Did I really…… enter the book?
Once he managed to calm his rattled nerves and looked in a mirror, he nearly fainted from shock — there was an absurdly, eye-poppingly beautiful face staring back at him.
The features crowded into that small, palm-sized face each made their own strong statement — eyes, nose, lips, not one of them falling short. The slender, elongated frame of the body was enough to make any model envious.
There’s a saying, isn’t there — that beyond one’s type, there exists someone above even that. He’d always been someone who didn’t really understand men being with men — but if it was a beauty of this caliber, he thought maybe no one could bring themselves to refuse.
That was just how remarkable ‘omega Hong Siyeon’s’ appearance was, and he wore a face that made you understand exactly what a protagonist’s halo looked like in practice.
He’d been staring blankly at ‘omega Hong Siyeon’s’ unfairly gorgeous face for quite a while when a thought suddenly crossed his mind.
Wait, at this rate…… am I going to get caught by that insane gay couple?
There was no way of knowing why he’d transmigrated into the protagonist of the novel he’d been binding — but there was only one thought in Siyeon’s head.
I need to run. Now.
Since he was getting a new life either way, there was no way he could let himself be captured by psychopaths wearing the mask of male leads and meet a horrible end.
They say that even when the sky falls, there’s a hole to survive through.
The changed appearance, the changed circumstances around him — none of it felt familiar, but he’d set off immediately as a fugitive, living the life of a wanderer ever since.
No, how is there not a single cent to my name.
There was, however…… one major problem he hadn’t thought through. Perhaps because of the setting that made the character a debtor buried under enormous debt — ‘omega Hong Siyeon’ didn’t have so much as a credit card, let alone any cash to scrape together.
Not wanting to run into the insane couple, he’d stormed out of the house and made his way to the terminal without a plan — but with no money for the bus, it seemed like he’d have to beg.
“To think I’d have to stoop to this of all things…….”
What a rough life. He’d thought he’d grown up without a fence to shelter him, experiencing the very bottom of the bottom…… but apparently there was a floor beneath that. A basement.
Cursing his own harsh fate, Siyeon settled into a corner of the late-night terminal. After hours of walking while asking for directions, his soles felt like they were on fire, and his stamina was completely drained.
For now, just earn bus fare fast and get out. Once I escape from Seoul, I’ll hide somewhere deep in the mountains.
Siyeon took off the cap he’d been wearing and set it on the ground in front of him, then curled himself up and bowed his head in the most pitiful-looking posture he could manage.
“Spare some change!”
At the loud call, he could feel the gazes of passersby gathering on him. The burning sensation crept up to his ears as their eyes lingered, wordlessly asking what a young guy was doing begging.
But what could he do. There was no other way. If one round of swallowing his pride meant he could sleep with his legs stretched out, he was willing to swallow it as many times as it took.
“Everyone, please help me just this once!”
He’d been shouting so much that his throat felt like it was splitting apart, his vocal cords drying out until his voice cracked and splintered. Even mid-begging, his throat felt like it was shriveling up — he was at the point where he would’ve gladly drunk straight from a tap.
Just as the grating of metal began to mix into his once smooth voice, a banknote came flying down onto Hong Siyeon’s cap.
No way! Saimdang?
Fortunately, the currency seemed to be the same — there was lovely Lady Saimdang staring back at him. This was enough not just for bus fare, but to buy water and fill his stomach too.
“Thank you so much. Such a generous amount…….”
Overcome with emotion, Siyeon snapped his head up to express his gratitude to the benefactor who had shown him a shred of mercy.
Well, that was the plan.
“Hong Siyeon. Is this really how you’re going to do things?”
Before he could even fully lift his head, a chilling voice sliced into his ear, making his knees go weak.
“Begging like this — when exactly are you going to pay back the money?”
The moment he saw the guy speaking to him in that blunt tone, feigning familiarity — an instinctive sense of crisis hit him. Because at this point, knowing the true nature of ‘omega Hong Siyeon,’ the person who had tossed him the Saimdang note was far more likely an enemy than a benefactor.
Should I just quietly grab the money and slip away.
Siyeon had his reasons for writing the person in front of him off as an enemy even before confirming their identity.
It was because, fittingly for a protagonist of a hardcore, depraved BL — the protagonist’s life was several times more wretched than anyone else’s.
Tagged with keywords like #pushover-sub and #naive-sub — pretty, on top of that, and kind and meek to boot — it was inevitable that his fate would be cruel.
As if by natural law, the people who swarmed around the protagonist were exclusively thugs who couldn’t wait to exploit him, or rabid dogs in heat who couldn’t wait to take him from behind. So the person in front of him had to be one or the other.
“Oho, so you’ve decided not to answer this hyung anymore?”
When Siyeon, his mind a tangled mess, stayed stubbornly silent, the guy started picking a fight — nudging him with the toe of his glossy dress shoe.
He wanted to play dumb and pretend not to know — but the kicks were getting progressively harder, making it impossible to ignore.
“Ah…….”
Reluctantly raising his head, Siyeon looked at the guy’s face and let out an involuntary groan.
A loudly patterned shirt. A leather clutch tucked under one arm. A somewhat rough, intimidating face with a scar cutting across one eyebrow. The moment he took in an appearance that no one could mistake for an ordinary person’s, a character flashed through his mind.
One of the last people he wanted to run into right now, aside from the alpha couple.
Don’t tell me, that guy is…… Manager Kang?
