The Tear-Stained Wall 20

“You said they’re destined partners.”

“Do all destined partners become like that?”

“How would I know? But His Majesty is happy, so that’s what matters.”

To be precise, he was satisfied that he wouldn’t act like a crazy person anymore.

Obsessing over an existence without substance looked like madness, but obsessing over an existence with substance would look like love, wouldn’t it?

‘And now the false rumors with Angel will end too!’

In many ways, Puti was greatly relieved. Watching such Puti’s face, Aris admired.

“You really do like His Majesty.”

Puti glanced at Aris and answered casually.

“Well, let’s say that’s the case.”

As they were spending time having such useless conversations, a carriage finally began to appear. Aris pointed at the carriage and said.

“She’s here.”

Puti relaxed his tensely strained body and muttered.

“Fortunately, she came quickly this time.”

He tried not to show his emotions, but Aris asked right away.

“Are you on bad terms with the Saintess?”

Puti quickly managed his expression and answered as if it was nothing.

“She tells me not to be by her side because I learn many of His Majesty’s secrets if I’m next to her?”

Then Aris smiled meaningfully and said.

“His Majesty dislikes the Saintess.”

Puti glared at Aris with force in his eyes. He seemed to have the awareness to notice but not the awareness to keep it to himself.

At Puti’s reaction, Aris winked playfully.

“Got it. I’ll keep my mouth shut.”

In the meantime, the carriage stopped right in front of the Emperor’s Palace. Puti turned his gaze away from glaring at Aris and politely greeted Angel as she got off the carriage.

“Angel-nim.”

“Puti.”

“Thank you for coming.”

At Puti’s greeting, Angel smiled gently and shook her head.

“Not at all. When His Majesty calls, naturally I must adjust my schedule.”

To still remember their argument from last time—what a petty person. Puti clicked his tongue inwardly and guided the way, still wearing the mask of courtesy.

“Please come this way.”

As Angel followed Puti and Aris, she asked.

“…We’re not going to the reception room?”

“No, we’re going to His Majesty’s private bedroom.”

“Private bedroom?”

At Angel’s surprised face, Puti smiled gently and said.

“Don’t worry. His Majesty and that person will be inside, and Mage Aris-nim and I will also be there together.”

Puti deliberately raised his voice moderately so that all the servants who were looking at them with surprised faces could hear.

‘Hurry and spread the rumor.’

After sending silent encouragement toward the backs of the servants quickly moving away, Puti turned to Angel and urged the slow woman.

“Then, I’m sorry but we’ll hurry a bit. His Majesty cherishes that person so much.”

Since the servants would have heard this conversation sufficiently, there was no need to move slowly like this anymore. At the same time, Puti didn’t forget to emphasize once more that Rosetta had a different partner, not Angel.

***

Angel followed Puti, who was more docile than usual, toward the Emperor’s private bedroom. At that urgent appearance, she felt a refreshing relief as if her blocked insides were flying away.

What would be the reason Puti was so docile, the reason he was hurrying?

‘He has something to gain from me.’

Thanks to Puti’s transparent behavior, she felt like humming. Of course, she couldn’t show that joy because of the mage beside her.

As if it had been arranged, Puti didn’t even announce Angel’s arrival and brought her into Rosetta’s room. Angel willingly followed Puti into the bedroom.

‘This place is…’

Angel, who had been roughly surveying the Emperor’s bedroom, looked at the large mirror positioned in one corner of the room, then took in Rosetta’s back and quickly moved her steps. The closer she got to the bed, the partner who had been hidden by the Emperor began to appear faintly.

Honey-colored skin and neatly cut black hair.

And a handsome face. As Angel approached a little closer to examine the man’s appearance, Rosetta stood up from his seat as if to block the man and looked at Angel.

“You’re here. Saintess.”

Angel didn’t try harder to see the man and immediately bowed her head.

“Your Majesty.”

Rosetta didn’t speak at length and immediately got to the point.

“The reason I called you is to ask for your help.”

Angel’s lips, lowered so others couldn’t see, curled up fishily. After arranging her expression, Angel raised her head and asked Rosetta back.

“Help?”

Rosetta calmly nodded.

“You would have the most knowledge about this matter, so I called you. Is it okay to use the power of this place on this person?”

Angel examined the sleeping man’s face. So right now, Rosetta was worried that the man might get hurt, that problems might arise.

‘He likes him more than I thought.’

For Rosetta to cherish the man this much wasn’t a bad thing. The more he cherished and liked his destiny, the greater the wound would return.

“I want to confirm if there’s any problem with his body right now.”

At Rosetta’s words, Angel recalled the second book that remained only in her memory and answered.

“I failed to tell you. Isn’t this mirror a gift from God? I can’t say there won’t be any strain on the body at all, but still, no big problems would have occurred. At worst, it would end with something like body aches.”

Rosetta’s stiffly hardened face relaxed slightly.

“We could communicate.”

That too was a part that had been written.

“Yes, since he came through the mirror and is connected to Your Majesty, you’ll be able to communicate now. However, emotions won’t be shared like they were until now.”

“Also?”

Angel continued to list out the things the Emperor would be curious about right now.

“It’s fine to use the power of this side. That is, after this person wakes up. The reason he’s sleeping like this now is to adapt to this world. Don’t worry.”

“That’s fortunate.”

Angel asked Rosetta, who was looking down at the man with gentle eyes.

“So, have you had a proper conversation?”

“He fell asleep immediately.”

“And you heard his name?”

“No.”

The first meeting wouldn’t have been entirely happy. That man would have been suddenly dragged over to this side.

Angel answered as if indifferent.

“I see.”

“How long will he be asleep?”

“Well. He’ll be asleep until adaptation is finished. It won’t be very long. How long has it been since he fell asleep?”

Then Puti, who had been quietly staying back, answered instead.

“It hasn’t even been half a day yet.”

Angel nodded and said to Rosetta.

“I don’t know exactly when he’ll wake up either, but still, he won’t sleep so deeply that it strains his body.”

Rosetta, who had been smoothing the blanket covering the man, asked sharply.

“But if the time gets too long?”

“There’s no precedent for that yet.”

“Don’t unprecedented things happen too?”

Normally, she would have been angry at him picking a fight like this, but this time she was willing. Angel continued the conversation calmly without getting excited.

“Your Majesty. Then, after a reasonable amount of time has passed, if you treat him…”

“What if his body hasn’t finished adapting?”

When Angel closed her mouth, Rosetta asked again.

“You said I could bring this person even though you can’t be certain whether it will strain his body?”

Reading the worry and anxiety hidden within, Angel smiled gently.

“In any case, there are always variables. Where in the world is there something perfect?”

This was said to avoid Rosetta’s anger when he failed to gain the man’s heart in the future. Angel continued speaking without erasing her smile.

“We can only hope we’re not the variable.”

Naturally, Rosetta shouldn’t be that variable. Angel hoped he would suffer, just as the mirror’s users had until now.

As Angel was receiving Rosetta’s gaze that was so cold it seemed about to freeze without avoiding it, a small sound was heard from the bed.

“Mmm.”

It was a sound that flowed from the man.

Angel looked at the man’s long eyelashes trembling, then smiled a bit spitefully at Rosetta’s action of blocking her view once more.

“And fortunately, this person isn’t a variable.”

Angel pointed at the man and asked.

“Shall I examine him?”

Rosetta turned his body sharply and said.

“Leave for now.”

Angel bowed her head toward Rosetta’s back and answered.

“Then I’ll withdraw for a moment. Please call me again when you’ve finished explaining.”

After leaving the room, Angel immediately moved to the reception room following Puti’s guidance.

She wanted to listen to their conversation in front of the room, but Puti firmly guided her to the reception room, saying he couldn’t dare make Saintess Angel stand in the corridor.

Though it was a bit regrettable, Angel still didn’t lose her smile and waited for Rosetta’s call while drinking tea. She couldn’t know what would happen in the room, but it was leisure that came from being certain that nothing good would happen.

Then Puti, who for once was staying there instead of returning to the Emperor, spoke to her.

“You seem to be in a good mood.”

Angel answered with a bright smile.

“Since His Majesty has found the one he loves, naturally as a subject, I should be happy.”

Rosetta would soon fall into despair because of his destiny, so it was natural for Angel to be happy. Angel smiled calmly at Puti, who was looking at her with strange eyes.

"You're destined to lose everything!" Words from a shaman that Seoho thought were nothing but nonsense. However, Seoho's life truly becomes completely different from before. Just as the shaman said he would lose family, friends, and even his home, he loses his parents and is left alone, and strange phenomena begin occurring even in the house his parents left him...? 'Is it really a ghost?' Even though he's clearly the only one in the house, when he falls asleep, he hears crying sounds, and later, eyes even appear on the wall. As the eyes and crying sounds become increasingly clear, Seoho grows exhausted... 'Come to meet me.' Who is the person crying so desperately in the world beyond the wall? [Preview] Seoho moved a little closer to the wall and asked. "Who are you?" Now that his mind was a bit more at ease, it seemed he had the luxury to do such absurd things. Seoho knew his current behavior was very strange, but he continued throwing questions at the eyes. "How long have you been here?" Knowing there would be no answer made the questions come out more easily. "Why are you staring at me?" If a ghost could affect reality to this degree, there must be something tremendous behind it. "What are you doing right now?" Rather than confronting it, he was simply asking what he was genuinely curious about. "Why do you cry every day? Why are you so sad?" It was fascinating that someone could cry without rest like that. Do ghosts not even sleep? "Once you take me away, will you stop being sad?" It was an absurd emotion, but at this point, he even felt a little sorry for the ghost that only ever cried. To the extent that if Seoho's departure from this world meant it would stop crying like that, it wouldn't be so bad. Of course, Seoho was aware that having such thoughts itself wasn't normal. Seoho smiled bitterly. "I don't understand why you keep crying like that." After crying this much, whether it's resentment or sadness, shouldn't it be time for it to fade? Seoho imagined the crying that echoed in his ears every night disappearing. What if the crying suddenly stopped being heard from tomorrow? Seoho hesitated and opened his mouth. "...Actually, I've gotten used to you now, so I think I'd feel a bit sad if you disappeared."
