Evan, who melted unsalted butter in a moderately heated pot, added the onions he had sliced in advance. Soon after, he put potatoes and button mushrooms in the pot in order, stirring occasionally to prevent burning, and took out two strips of bacon.
Every process was as natural as flowing water, and a hum flowed from Evan’s mouth as he cooked. The camera director and PD were right in front of him, but he paid them no mind at all.
Evan, who had been stir-frying the potatoes, onions, and button mushrooms, added milk and broth to the pot. While it boiled, he placed the bacon on a frying pan and prepared croutons and parsley.
“Ah, cooking? I learned diligently whenever I had time. I didn’t really have it as a hobby, but as I did it, it became fun.”
When the PD, unable to watch Evan cooking while humming to himself any longer, asked him through a sketchbook to please talk, only then did he open his mouth.
Even while talking, Evan’s hands moved ceaselessly. In the other pot, vin chaud was bubbling vigorously, emitting its distinctive fragrance fully.
“Everyone knows vin chaud, and what I’m making now is cream soup.”
Evan, who checked the state of the finely chopped potatoes in the soup pot, took out a blender. And when he put the soup that had been boiling until just now into it and operated the blender, a loud noise different from before filled the space.
“Isn’t there a silent blender? At this rate, they’ll wake up. Not that they’ll wake up, but they definitely woke up.”
As soon as Evan finished grumbling with a slightly furrowed expression, his gaze turned to one place. Soon, a sweet smile different from before bloomed across his face.
The door opened and the camera began to capture the person who came out of the room. With disheveled hair, perhaps still not fully awake as he couldn’t open his eyes properly, he headed toward Evan as if instinctively drawn.
Evan, who was pouring what he had finely ground in the blender back into the pot, didn’t stop the actions of the person back-hugging him.
“Was it loud?”
“……Yeah.”
Evan smiled softly at the answer murmured with a nod while pressing his forehead against his back. What should he do? Right now, Siwoo seemed to have completely forgotten about the broadcast.
At first he hugged from behind, then started to squirm around, so Evan added the heavy cream he had set aside and stepped back a bit.
As always, Siwoo, who stealthily approached toward his front, buried his face in his chest.
“When did you wake up?”
A voice completely locked up flowed out through Siwoo’s lips.
“About two hours ago.”
Evan, who had wiped his hands, put his hands between Siwoo’s armpits and sat him on top of the cluttered island table.
“……Should’ve woken me.”
“Let’s see. Did your fever go down?”
Evan put his hand on Siwoo’s forehead.
“Yeah. I’m fine now.”
While Evan stroked his cheek and touched his exposed nape, Siwoo obediently entrusted everything to that touch and stared at his face.
“That’s a relief.”
When Evan tried to step back, Siwoo quickly stretched out his arms and hugged his body to prevent him from getting away. Then he buried his face in Evan’s chest again and took a deep breath. Siwoo’s face as he felt Evan’s pheromones was full of comfort.
“Coco.”
At Evan’s call, Siwoo only nodded his head slightly and fully enjoyed this moment. When he felt Evan’s body temperature and smelled his gentle pheromones, his mood improved.
“You forgot what day it is today, didn’t you?”
Usually when he clung like this, Evan would hug him tightly and shower him with kisses, but far from showing such behavior, he brought up words that weren’t easily understood.
What day is today? Recalling Evan’s words, Siwoo loosened the strength of the arms hugging him, raised his head, and met eyes with Evan looking down at him.
“……”
Immediately startled by the thought that flashed through his mind, Siwoo quickly moved away from Evan. Unable to contain his anxiety, Siwoo slowly turned around, lowered his head, and slowly got down from the island table where he had been sitting until just now.
The moment he saw the two camera directors, the PD with an awkward smile, and the writer trying hard to look elsewhere, everything became certain.
Today was the filming day for a program called ‘A Star’s Day.’
It was a program that comfortably showed their day from the morning they woke up until before they went to sleep. So naturally, it was content he had already been told during the pre-filming meeting that the filming crew would come to their home.
“Hellooo.”
Evan’s loud laughter filled the house as he watched Siwoo, who had crept down and was touching the hem of his pajama top, bow deeply to the filming crew and disappear into the bedroom.
Rough murmurs burst out ceaselessly from Siwoo’s mouth as he threw off his pajamas with a character of a rabbit holding a carrot densely printed on the top and bottom, and changed into plain indoor clothes like Evan.
How could he forget that? Thinking about it, Evan had told him last night too that there was filming. It wasn’t like his fever was that severe either. Since he had rested all day due to the sudden cold, he couldn’t even use the excuse that he forgot because he was busy.
When Siwoo woke up dimly and groped for the spot next to him with his hand, feeling the coldly cooled blanket, he had been thinking he should get up. Just then, when he heard the sound of the blender running from outside, he had headed straight for Evan.
He had just done what he usually did, but still……
Siwoo, who finished washing his face and brushing his teeth and bit down hard on his lower lip, headed outside. Even if it was embarrassing and mortifying, what could he do? He had to ask them to edit it and continue filming.
Siwoo, who went out to the living room and wore a microphone, said to please definitely edit it, then went to Evan, who was still in the kitchen.
“Ah, seriously, wake me up. You did everything alone.”
Delicious-looking soup, crispy toasted bread, fruits, and more filled the table.
“Even if your fever went down, eat this and make sure to take your medicine.”
Siwoo, who sat across from Evan, playfully frowned at his words and picked up a spoon. After eating a little of the soup, Siwoo unknowingly nodded and hummed the tune Evan had been singing while cooking until just now.
“Is it good?”
“Yeah. It’s like what the chef at the main house made.”
“I did well to learn.”
“Really? You learned from the chef at the main house? When? I thought they sent it.”
“The broth is what they sent. What about the vin chaud?”
Siwoo, who had been exchanging conversation with Evan while eating the soup, picked up the mug next to him at the mention of vin chaud. After blowing on it several times and holding a little in his mouth, Siwoo tilted his head after a while.
“I don’t think this is it.”
“……Wow. How do you really know all of that?”
“Did you make it?”
At Evan’s words that seemed dejected, Siwoo, who had been looking around, soon saw the large container on the electric range and smiled softly.
“You were busy from the morning. You don’t have any other schedules today, right?”
“It’s a rare day to rest comfortably at home.”
Siwoo, who had been having an ordinary conversation, bent down at the soft feeling felt on his foot and scooped up the small one playing with his foot in one hand.
“Ongi. When did you come again?”
“This morning. They asked me to take care of him because they’d be busy for a few days.”
“Did noona come and go?”
“Yeah. She said she’s going on a trip.”
Siwoo, who held the still tiny baby Ongi with both hands and kissed his face and body all over, held Ongi up toward the camera.
“Hello, I’m Ongi. My last name is Ya… my name is Ongi. All together, I’m Ya-ongi. My owner is always busy and leaves me here. I don’t really know which is my home.”
He introduced himself as if he were Ongi and put Ongi back down on the floor.
Siwoo, who finished his breakfast meal while having casual conversation about how the weather had gotten cold, looked at the medicine placed in front of him and laughed helplessly.
“I’m all better. I don’t have a fever either. Look, my voice is fine too. I haven’t even coughed from this morning until now.”
“No. Since you finished eating, take it. If you pass it to me, I’ll be the one suffering.”
“Whoa, pass what? I’ve never once seen you catch a cold until now, you know?”
“So what if you pass it this time? I have to record in a few days.”
Siwoo glanced at Evan, who put the pills in his palm while speaking roundabout words as if he really thought he wouldn’t take them, then reluctantly took the medicine and drank water. And Siwoo’s gaze while organizing the dishes turned toward the boxes stacked on one side.
“When did this come again? Then there must have been vin chaud too.”
Siwoo, who opened the box, took out a bag full of madeleines he liked from inside. He quickly put a madeleine in his mouth and soon took out a glass bottle from inside the box too.
“……”
Because he had a madeleine in his mouth, his pronunciation was garbled, but the message that there was vin chaud here so why did he bother making more got through to Evan.
“What could I do when it arrived while I was already boiling it?”
“You must have been really busy from the morning. Noona came and went, and these things came too.”
Siwoo, who finished eating the madeleine, quickly put a madeleine in Evan’s mouth too and took out plates and cups.
He filled the wide plate with various breads and cookies sent from England including madeleines, and also warmed the vin chaud and poured it into cups.
The two, who gave the snacks to the filming team, stuck close together and cleaned up the kitchen that Evan had messed up while cooking.
“They send us various things from England. Um… usually it comes once a month, I think. If we have a lot of schedules or are busy, it comes once every few months, and if it’s a rest period like now, it comes more often. Since we spend relatively more time at home.”
Siwoo explained briefly while organizing the box containing various foods together.
The two, who finished cleaning up following the meal close to breakfast and lunch, put down a bunch of snacks on the living room table and sat side by side on the sofa.
“What do you want to watch?”
“The new movie that came out.”
“Oh! It’s already out?”
The two, who closed the living room blackout curtains and purchased the new movie, sat close together and started watching the film. This was their way of resting. The two ate snacks and occasionally talked while watching two movies in a row in one spot. They also played with Ongi and had simple conversations.
While sprawled out like that, when Siwoo fell asleep, Evan laid the sleeping Siwoo in the bedroom and worked in the study. Around sunset, Evan came out of the study and woke Siwoo, and the two grumbled while making and eating dinner.
It was an extremely boring and ordinary day, but Siwoo and Evan were neither more nor less. And the filming production crew also didn’t suggest anything to them.
Late at night after all the filming crew had left.
Siwoo let out a small sigh.
“I don’t know if that can be broadcast. Should we have done something?”
“No. If my thoughts are correct, it might hit the highest viewership ratings.”
“Wow. Is there no limit to your arrogance?”
“Do you remember what we did today?”
“Woke up, ate, organized things, watched two movies, took a nap, and ate dinner.”
“Right. That’s all we need.”
At Evan’s words, Siwoo just closed his eyes. Whether the broadcast succeeded or failed had already left his hands. Whatever happened didn’t matter. Regardless of the result, the appearance fee would be settled normally.
