# Chapter 83
“That’s right. Yeah, sure. I know, I know. Why would Esper Suhyun want to attack me? He’s just subduing me because he has no choice. I’m just joking.”
Won Jungyeom was the first to break the silence. Jiwon’s eyes narrowed at Jungyeom, who was nodding his head exaggeratedly.
His reaction was rather unsettling.
“I have no intention of attacking.”
When Suhyun chimed in, Jiwon’s suspicions only grew stronger that there was something going on between the two of them, rather than feeling at ease.
“Yeah, well…”
Nevertheless, Jiwon just nodded vaguely.
The feeling that something was off was just his own intuition, so he didn’t want to press the issue too much.
“Anyway, I hope something actually comes of it this time. Let’s not get caught off guard like before.”
Jungyeom’s unusually serious mumble made Jiwon miss the chance to ask about whatever was bothering him.
Jiwon shrugged his shoulders lightly.
“There’s no need to feel pressured.”
As if trying to ease the palpable tension, Suhyun spoke in a firm tone. Jungyeom laughed heartily.
“What pressure would I feel? It’s Esper Suhyun and Guide Jiwon who should be feeling the pressure.”
“I’m fine with it, really.”
“Fine, my ass. Ah, forget it. Let’s stop with this gloomy talk.”
For a fleeting moment, a bitter expression crossed Jungyeom’s face before he abruptly stood up.
“Now that I’m here, can I take a look around Esper Suhyun’s place?”
“…Why so suddenly?”
“I’m curious how an S-class Esper lives.”
Why… would he be curious about that?
Jiwon, who had been wearing an expression of incomprehension, scrunched his face when Jungyeom winked at him.
“Since I’m already here. Do we have anything else to talk about while sitting down?”
“Well…”
Jungyeom typically enjoyed keeping conversations light. Though he could be serious when needed, he preferred to wrap up heavy topics as quickly as possible.
Jiwon figured this was probably one of those times, but the house tour request came out of nowhere. And what was with that wink?
“Or would Guide Jiwon like to guide me first?”
“Go ahead and look around.”
Unlike Jiwon who seemed somewhat bewildered, Suhyun easily granted permission without seeming to mind at all. Immediately, Jungyeom left the living room and began casually scanning the place.
“Is this Esper Suhyun’s room?”
“Yes.”
“Oho…”
The first place that caught his interest was none other than Suhyun’s room. It seemed he had been curious about Suhyun’s room from the beginning.
“Can I go in?”
“Go ahead.”
Suhyun answered as if he didn’t care about anything, despite Jungyeom’s mischievous smile.
“Ack…!”
At that moment, Jiwon, who had been sitting quietly, jumped up with a strange noise.
“What is it?”
“What’s wrong?”
The movement was so noticeable that both Jungyeom and Suhyun were startled.
“Ah, haha…”
Jiwon laughed awkwardly and waved his hand. Yet he was gradually moving toward Jungyeom.
“Well, um…”
Jiwon, who had somehow made his way to the front of Suhyun’s room, grinned.
Jiwon had never properly seen Suhyun’s room before. Even though he wanted to go in, he had no good excuse, so he’d only peeked in from outside.
But now Jungyeom had given him the perfect opportunity.
There was no way he could miss this chance.
“Oh boy…”
Jungyeom shook his head as if he couldn’t believe it. Then he flung the door open. Having already received permission, there was no hesitation in his movements.
“Isn’t Esper Suhyun coming in?”
“Look around as you please and come out.”
Suhyun remained sitting quietly on the sofa, seeming uninterested. Jiwon, pressing down on his rising cheeks, followed Jungyeom into the room.
“Hmm… it’s clean.”
Suhyun’s room was plain.
It had looked simple from the outside, but once inside, it felt almost empty.
The bed sheets in the center of the room were pure white, but everything else was gray.
Jiwon examined the room carefully, where nothing stood out. Such an opportunity might not come again, so he was determined to see everything he could while he had the chance.
In truth, everything was interesting simply because it was Suhyun’s room, even if there wasn’t much to see.
The tightly closed drawers, the clean desk, the modest bookshelf with just a few books—Jiwon’s gaze naturally moved slowly across everything.
“It’s not just clean, there’s literally nothing here? Not that I expected much.”
By then, Jungyeom seemed to have finished looking around and made a disappointed comment. Jiwon couldn’t disagree more.
Had it even been 10 seconds since they entered? It was far too short a time to properly explore a room that reflected Suhyun’s personality.
Actually, there wasn’t even a need to explore. Just standing quietly in the room felt good enough.
After all, the room was filled with the scent he experienced whenever he got close to Suhyun. It almost felt like being right next to him.
‘Does he use a particular cologne? Body wash? Is it some special skincare product?’
Where did this warm, soft fragrance come from?
Jiwon scanned the room with eagle eyes. If he spotted anything noticeable, he was fully prepared to buy the same thing. Unfortunately, everything seemed to be stored away in drawers, so nothing caught his eye.
‘The closet is small.’
As Jiwon inspected every corner of the room like someone buying a house, his attention was drawn to the wardrobe that seemed small compared to the size of the room.
It was just the right size for Suhyun, who didn’t seem like the type to buy and collect clothes or any other items.
‘It’s probably filled with dark-colored clothes.’
Since Suhyun generally preferred to wear black, Jiwon could guess what was inside without having to look.
But he wanted to open it and see for himself. You never know. Maybe there would be some bright-colored clothes unexpectedly.
He was also curious about how Suhyun organized his things. He imagined they would be neatly stacked… but he wanted to confirm that too.
The desire to open not just the closet but all the drawers probably meant he was going crazy.
However…
“What are you looking at so intently?”
Resisting his seemingly insane impulses, Jiwon had been glaring at the closet when Jungyeom’s question made him smile.
“Not really looking at anything in particular. There’s nothing to see.”
Although his response was a beat late, he thought he answered casually enough. Unfortunately, that was just Jiwon’s delusion.
“Guide Jiwon.”
“Yes?”
“I’m an Esper too.”
Jiwon frowned at the sudden remark.
“I’ve been guiding you for how long now? You think I don’t know that?”
“Hmm, is that so? Then you must also know that I can hear your loud heartbeat?”
“Ah.”
Jiwon’s eyelids flew open. Instinctively pressing down on the left side of his chest, he drew a snicker from Jungyeom.
True to Jungyeom’s words, since entering Suhyun’s room, Jiwon’s heart had been beating more frantically than usual. Thanks to his vivid imagination while eyeing the closet and drawers, his heartbeat had only accelerated, not slowed.
Unable to hide his flustered state, Jiwon glanced nervously at Suhyun sitting in the living room.
Despite the distance and Jungyeom’s soft voice, Jiwon felt like Suhyun might have heard everything. Including the sound of his heartbeat that Jungyeom mentioned.
“You can’t even pretend you don’t know. Your face is a mess too.”
Jungyeom pointed at Jiwon’s face, shaking his head. Jiwon could already feel the heat rising. His face was probably bright red.
Clearing his throat, Jiwon tried to calm himself. But Jungyeom didn’t seem inclined to help at all.
Standing with his back to the door, he mouthed words to Jiwon.
“You’re loving this, aren’t you?”
His honest and clear lip movements were enough to understand even without sound.
‘This is driving me crazy…’
Not just Jo Wooyeon but Won Jungyeom had also figured out his feelings.
Judging by Jungyeom’s comment that he couldn’t even pretend not to know, Jiwon must have been quite obvious about it.
‘Esper Suhyun doesn’t know, does he?’
If two people who don’t even meet often could tell, wouldn’t Suhyun know too? Anxiety suddenly gripped him.
“You two are something else.”
Jungyeom mouthed once more. Before Jiwon could decipher the meaning, Jungyeom suddenly spoke aloud.
“Esper Suhyun. Can I open your closet?”
“No, why the closet…”
“Got any nice clothes? I’m curious what young people wear these days, hmm?”
“There won’t be much to see.”
“Hmm, am I being too nosy? Forget it if you don’t want me to.”
“…I don’t mind.”
“Really? Great. Excuse me then.”
Jiwon squeezed his eyes shut, then opened them again. Jungyeom was doing this because he had caught Jiwon staring at the closet. This had nothing to do with being polite or rude—Jungyeom wasn’t the type to be interested in other people’s closets.
“Zmwmmng, Esmmph…”
Jiwon tried to stop Jungyeom with gritted teeth.
“What’s wrong with your pronunciation? Did you bite your tongue?”
But Jungyeom brushed Jiwon off with his characteristically relaxed smile.
Eventually, the closet door swung wide open at Jungyeom’s hand.
As if drawn by instinct, Jiwon’s gaze, which had been trying to stop Jungyeom, turned toward the closet.
“Wow…”
One word was enough for his impression. As expected, Suhyun’s closet was downright gloomy. There wasn’t a single item of clothing with any color to be found.
