Different Dreams in the Same Bed (11)
—Dogyeom, a customer came looking for you. They said you know each other personally…
At the sound coming from the receiver, the scissors that had been moving lightly in Dogyeom’s hand stopped for a moment.
‘Who is it?’
“Just a moment, I’ll finish this up beautifully for you.”
Dogyeom smiled brightly and lightly moved the scissors.
—Come to reception right after you finish that cut. He’s super handsome. Isn’t he a celebrity?
‘Handsome?’
He briefly thought of Han Siheon, but reception wouldn’t fail to recognize him as a VIP customer. The corners of Dogyeom’s mouth stiffened slightly.
“Dogyeom!”
“Jeongbae hyung!”
When he went down to the first-floor reception desk, the person Dogyeom loved most in the world was waiting. Dogyeom ran over like a puppy and hugged Jeongbae.
“You should have called before coming!”
“You’re busy. I came to get a haircut, but if you didn’t have time, I was just going to leave.”
Jeongbae scratched his head and smiled bashfully. Dogyeom’s heart ached. The thought that he came to see him was so warm.
“I’ve wanted to come see where you work for a while… I’ve just been too busy.”
“You came at a good time. Ah, do you want something to drink?”
“They already gave me juice. Our Dogyeom works at such a nice place.”
Jeongbae’s eyes widened as he looked around. Cream-toned marble reception and subtly spreading indirect lighting, quiet air like a hotel lounge.
Just then, a low, cold voice suddenly popped out from behind.
“You see each other at home all the time, why are you clinging to him like that?”
Dogyeom’s face crumpled. It was the “super handsome” Yoon Jaehyuk who’d come over the radio earlier.
“Says the one who’s always sucking on our hyung.”
Dogyeom whispered quietly and stuck even closer to Jeongbae. Jeongbae stroked Dogyeom’s head as if pleased.
“Then, hyung. I’ll cut your hair right away. This way…”
Dogyeom’s face, which had been holding Jeongbae’s hand and leading him, stiffened for a moment.
“Huh? Why?”
Jeongbae asked back with a clueless face. Dogyeom slowly traced Jeongbae’s lips with his fingertips.
Gently, carefully.
“Hyung… did you go to the dentist today?”
“Ah, you noticed right away too. How do you notice so quickly?”
Where did the money come from… he unconsciously swallowed those words. It must be that big rattlesnake’s doing.
“I was saving money to do it for you…”
It wasn’t empty words. Dogyeom had even set up a savings account for Jeongbae. Jeongbae opened his mouth to show his teeth.
“How is it? It’s still a temporary tooth. Looks perfect, right?”
“Mmm…”
His expression hardened without realizing it. Just filling in one tooth, yet he was this pretty. His insides felt bitterly sour.
‘I’m not even as good as that rattlesnake bastard…’
Dogyeom pressed down his feelings and put on his business smile again.
“Let’s go. I’ll cut it prettily for you.”
“Okay!”
Jeongbae nodded his head vigorously. That was so cute too that Dogyeom’s heart ached.
“Cut mine too.”
But from behind, an unexpected comment was heard.
“What?”
Dogyeom glared.
“You go get it cut somewhere else.”
“Since I’m here, might as well. It’s too long, it’s stuffy.”
‘Fuck. Damn rattlesnake bastard.’
Normally curses would have popped out immediately, but this was Dogyeom’s workplace where he lived a double life as a mascot. Dogyeom immediately managed his expression.
Just then, Jaehyuk’s eyes narrowed wickedly. Just like someone who knew Dogyeom’s insides.
“If I get it cut here and don’t like it, I can file a complaint, right?”
“……”
Dogyeom’s brow trembled. He really wanted to kill him.
“Oh my, holding hands and everything. Dogyeom-ssi must really like him.”
Chaerin deliberately made knowing remarks.
“What’s your relationship?”
“He’s my hyung. Please take good care of our Dogyeom.”
When Jeongbae bowed his head politely, Chaerin laughed merrily.
“Oh my, don’t worry. Dogyeom-ssi is so good… Then the tall gentleman is…”
This seemed to be the main point. Chaerin’s curious gaze swept over Jaehyuk. A straight nose bridge, distinct eyes that shone even with an indifferent expression. His tall height and broad shoulders had tremendous presence even just standing still, but were even more dazzling when moving. Dogyeom’s eyes sharpened sharply.
“My friend…”
“He’s my husband.”
Jaehyuk made the first move.
“Hey! What are you—”
While Jeongbae fumbled, Jaehyuk already had a triumphant expression. Chaerin’s eyes slowly narrowed.
“…Husband?”
“I came to see my brother-in-law today.”
Jaehyuk returned it casually.
“Brother-in-law, what nonsense…”
Dogyeom whispered quietly and ground his teeth.
‘If this wasn’t my workplace, I’d smack the back of his head…’
“Sit here, hyung.”
Dogyeom pulled out the cutting chair and guided him gently. When Jeongbae sat down with a bewildered expression, Dogyeom put the cape around him and stealthily swept over his lips again.
Temporary teeth. White, straight teeth. He’d look even prettier when smiling.
‘Fuck… I couldn’t even do it for him, so why did he fall into that rattlesnake’s hands?’
“Hyung, lift your head just a bit.”
Dogyeom’s fingertips carefully supported Jeongbae’s chin. Jeongbae looked up at Dogyeom with the most harmless face in the world. Slightly upturned eye corners, large pupils. The mischievous face that Dogyeom liked. His hair had grown quite long in the meantime.
“Huh?”
When Jeongbae blinked, Dogyeom hastily blurted out words as if caught spacing out.
“Ah… no, just. Something seemed to be stuck here…”
Stupid words came out. Dogyeom slightly turned his face and picked up the scissors.
Perhaps because it matched Jeongbae’s round, pretty head shape, the cut came out satisfactory. Cutting it short enough to show his forehead brought out his delicate facial lines well.
“Wow, Dogyeom. I really like it.”
Jeongbae smiled brightly. His eye corners folded prettily like half-moons. Dogyeom’s mouth corners also rose naturally.
“Right? This suits hyung much better.”
The fingertips of Dogyeom holding the scissors trembled slightly.
He was so happy that it was him, not some other guy, who created that smile, that moment of looking so pretty.
Just then, Jaehyuk’s shadow fell from behind. He was frantically pressing the phone camera shutter.
“You’re fucking pretty today. Gotta record this.”
Then he rudely butted in between them and said.
“I can just sit over there, right?”
“…Wait.”
Dogyeom gritted his teeth.
Sitting down in the chair with a thud and crossing his arms, Jaehyuk observed Dogyeom’s hand movements as if scrutinizing them, then casually requested.
“Don’t just cut mine, style it too. Since I need to take pictures.”
The scissors in Dogyeom’s hand stopped for a moment.
“…Pictures?”
Dogyeom asked back.
“Kang Jeongbae is face-crazy. I’m gonna take my picture properly today and set it as Jeongbae’s phone background.”
“Bullshit.”
“Honestly, I’m handsome.”
Dogyeom’s eyes narrowed sharply.
As the scissors moved with a rustling sound, Jaehyuk’s bangs fell softly.
“Hey! S-stop! Don’t cut too much—”
“Keep your mouth shut. If you move, your ear will get cut.”
Dogyeom said firmly.
“I’m doing a style that suits you.”
Jaehyuk’s face crumpled.
“Sending me back to the military?”
“What? You already went? Too bad.”
“You haven’t even been to the military…”
“Didn’t you know? I’m exempt.”
Jaehyuk was taken aback.
“No, why are you exempt when you’re perfectly fine!”
“I’m an orphan.”
“…Ah.”
“Idiot.”
Dogyeom bit his lips tightly after saying it.
Only the rustling sound of scissors cutting echoed clearly in the silence. After that, Jaehyuk just glared at the mirror without speaking.
“Oh, Jaehyuk.”
Jeongbae’s face, coming out after shampooing, widened with surprise.
“You’re… too…”
He stopped mid-sentence and bowed his head, blushing all the way to his earlobes. Dogyeom’s face crumpled.
‘Fuck.’
“Oh my my. Customer. You look so cool. My goodness.”
Just then, Chaerin came running over making a fuss. Surrounding interns were also murmuring while looking at Jaehyuk.
“Is he a model…”
“His height and frame are insane.”
“What, he’s like a sculpture.”
Dogyeom trembled and quietly gripped the scissors tightly. He didn’t want to admit it, but Yoon Jaehyuk was annoyingly handsome and pulled off the short hair he’d cut with spine-chilling perfection. He’d just buzzed it like a chestnut, but some kind of action movie protagonist-like masculinity and freshness poured out.
“Ah, we have to post this on SNS. Kyaa! Customer, can we take a few photos for our upload?”
Chaerin asked in an excited voice. Usually upload cuts were taken by recruiting celebrity-level or comparable influencers. It was for the shop’s name value. But taking photos of such a common civilian who’s a dime a dozen…
“Jeongbae, what should we do?”
When Jaehyuk turned his head and asked, Jeongbae didn’t know what to do and just nodded his head quickly.
“Yes, please take them.”
“Oh my, thank you! We’ll give both of you a special price today.”
At Chaerin’s appearance frantically holding up her phone, Dogyeom’s expression became even more sullen.
“Wow… even the scratched-out feeling looks so cool.”
“Could you look this way too?”
“Jaehyuk, can I take pictures with you later?”
“Ah, we’ll send you the ones we took right now.”
Dogyeom ground his teeth inwardly.
“Dogyeom, see you at home later.”
Jeongbae waved his hand lightly in greeting. With the haircut done, he was even more lovable. That damned alpha bastard holding that Jeongbae’s hand tightly as they left. Dogyeom felt like his insides weren’t just sour but burning up.
‘I’m going to kill him.’
Dogyeom came out to see them off, smiling only with his eyes.
“Please come often, you two. Your looks are so good, I think our shop will get good promotion.”
“Thank you.”
After Jaehyuk greeted Chaerin in a low voice, when his eyes met Dogyeom’s, he slyly flicked his tongue.
‘Fuuuck.’
To lose his first love of a lifetime with a confirmation kill at his workplace. In the midst of it all, the fact that the hair he’d cut suited Yoon Jaehyuk well became an eternal regret.
‘Fuck, just try coming again next time. Then I’ll shave from the crown of your head with clippers.’
