I’d possessed someone in some kind of ‘verse. And as if some ‘verse wasn’t enough, it was inside a rated-19 BL novel full of all sorts of unfamiliar terms and acts.
‘Pregnant with what?’
The problem started when my eyes fell on a novel with the bizarre title <I’m Pregnant with My Hyung’s Child>.
Being shocked by the worldview explanation on the first page of the novel I’d picked up absentmindedly, and then turning to the next page—that was also the biggest mistake of my life.
Guideverse and Omegaverse. In a world where these ‘verses were combined, nothing was impossible.
Men got pregnant and went into heat. To properly use their supernatural abilities, they had to periodically do ‘that thing.’ I even let out an empty laugh at the part about going berserk if they didn’t receive dense mucous membrane guiding.
‘This is a worldview deliberately made for doing it.’
I should’ve just thought “oh, so this kind of world exists” and closed the book.
But I got curious about the phrase on the novel’s cover: ‘Adult BL Category – #1 Best Seller for 7 Consecutive Weeks!’ The book wasn’t thick either, so it seemed like I could finish it quickly.
‘Jeong Dawoon…’
More than anything, a character with the exact same name as mine, starting from the surname, appeared, so I read it as if possessed.
The content was, as expected, blatantly explicit. After skipping through all the scenes that seemed a bit too much, the novel quickly entered its latter half.
Compared to the shocking subject matter, the flow of the story was simple. They’d just slash some monsters, and if they made eye contact, they’d do it anywhere—and do it again. Always making excuses about guiding and heat cycles. When it reached the scene where they scored a pregnancy, using the excuse that they weren’t blood-related siblings, I was even impressed in various ways.
Fortunately or unfortunately, since I didn’t have any particular prejudices, I managed to read through the sexual descriptions between men. Since it was my first time encountering this genre, I read on wondering just how it would end, and soon reached the last page.
And my impression after finishing it was…
“Hey, eat with me.”
It was when I was opening the convenience store door in a daze, mulling over the novel’s contents. Some burly guys were standing in the passageway where people came and went, blocking the entrance.
“Fuck off. Buy it yourself.”
“Ah, come on. How much does that even cost?”
Reeking of strong alcohol, they were fighting over mere snacks. Behind the two hulks, people who’d been trying to enter the convenience store glanced at them nervously before turning around. Some people saw only their silhouettes from afar and immediately changed direction.
It wasn’t just because they were rowdy drunks with bulky builds, but because they were Espers.
Even in civilian clothes, intermediate-level or higher Espers were clearly distinguishable from ordinary citizens. Especially if they were alphas.
“Hey, move out of the way.”
The Espers who’d been bickering over a single bag of snacks turned around at the sound calling them. They blinked their eyes, hazy with alcohol, then quickly bent at the waist.
“Good day, Esper Jeong Dawoon, sir!”
They simultaneously greeted him respectfully in booming voices. They must be rookies after all. That’s why they were roaming around the civilian area after getting drunk.
Dawoon casually waved his hand at the rookie Espers who only had bulk but baby faces.
“If you’re drunk, stop wandering around and return to base. Don’t go scaring civilians for no reason.”
“Yes! Understood!”
The Espers immediately moved at Dawoon’s words. Passersby watched the scene with expressions of curiosity.
That was natural, since on the outside, Dawoon looked far weaker than the large hulks.
An Esper’s physique was proportional to their rank. The more outstanding their abilities, the more their bodies developed and they exuded an intimidating atmosphere. Like those two guys who, despite being rookies, had high ranks.
In contrast, Dawoon had absolutely no intimidating presence at first glance. He was just tall like a beanpole.
His body was long and slender, which looked nice, but he didn’t feel strong at all. He had such a thin build that it seemed like he’d sway if even an ordinary person, not an Esper, gave him a light push.
Moreover, looking at his face… he clearly seemed to be an omega. All the passersby were unanimously certain of Dawoon’s trait. Just looking at his fair skin and delicate features, it was a face that couldn’t be anything but omega.
“Hey, take this one.”
Dawoon rummaged through his bag and tossed a snack to the rookies who were walking while slapping each other’s cheeks to sober up from the alcohol. They immediately shouted “Thank you!” loudly and stretched out their arms to catch the snack.
And at that moment.
“Kyaaaah!”
Starting with one passerby’s scream, the ear-piercing cry of a monster poured down from the sky.
Kieeeek!
The rookie Espers who’d caught the snack immediately took combat positions. Fortunately, they were offensive-type Espers.
The two shot water and wind at the monster that came flying while flapping its wings. One guy was a hydrokinesis ability user and the other was a wind-type ability user.
“Everyone, please enter the building.”
While assessing the rookies’ abilities, Dawoon calmly evacuated the citizens into the convenience store. Judging by those guys’ spirited momentum and bulk, he thought there was no need for him to step in, but…
“You bastard! Where are you shooting that wind!”
“You stop just spraying water and do it properly! Are you giving it a shower!”
Both of them were quite clumsy, not living up to their bulk. If they were veterans, they’d have dealt with the monster even while dead drunk, but unfortunately, they were wet-behind-the-ears rookies. The alcohol seemed to be quite a big obstacle.
Kieeeek!
They prevented the monster from descending to the ground but couldn’t catch it. If the monster ended up going somewhere else like this, the problem would get bigger. They had to deal with it as quickly as possible here where the Espers were.
After evacuating all the citizens to a safe place, Dawoon let out a short sigh. The rookies who were barely holding onto the monster began sending him looks asking for help. Dawoon had been about to step in anyway.
“They all look weak… Shouldn’t we be requesting backup even now?”
“That person isn’t drunk though.”
“But he looks the weakest. Isn’t he just a Guide?”
At that moment, a group of young students inside the convenience store had a heartbreaking conversation. Since Dawoon was also an Esper and had excellent hearing, he heard every small sound.
With an indifferent face, Dawoon pretended not to hear and approached the rookies confronting the monster. Subtly puffing out his chest as if inflating his bulk was a bonus.
Kieeeek!
“So, what. Wind guy, lift me up.”
“Y-yes? Me?”
The Esper who was barely holding the rampaging monster in the air with wind looked at Dawoon.
“Hurry.”
“Ah, yes! Understood!”
The rookie who’d had a blank expression swiftly sent wind to lift Dawoon into the air. Though his aim was unstable, it wasn’t too bad. Since the rookie knew Dawoon’s ability, he cleverly sent him toward the monster without a long explanation.
“Esper Jeong Dawoon, sir! I’ll support you with water!”
“No, you just eat your snack.”
The hydrokinesis ability user still had a long way to go. Just as the wind ability user said, he was really just spraying water as if showering the monster, so enough said.
Of course, his ability was lacking, but it was especially bothersome because Dawoon happened to live with such an excellent hydrokinesis Esper that his clumsy ability stood out even more.
That’s not how you use water, rookie. Sighing, Dawoon reached out his hand toward the monster that was opening its maw wide to devour him.
Kieeeek!
The monster tried to bite Dawoon’s approaching hand without any fear. Even while riding the unstable wind, Dawoon skillfully dodged the monster’s attack.
“Let’s go quietly. Don’t make a fuss in a civilian area.”
Dawoon murmured as if warning the monster while removing gloves unsuited for the warm season. His pale hands, which had been hidden by the pitch-black leather gloves, were as bloodless as his face. Blue veins were faintly visible.
He unhesitatingly stretched out his arm and touched the monster’s jaw with his bare hand. At the same time, the monster that had been crying out noisily made a “Kuk!” sound and began trembling.
K-kiek! Kuhk!
The monster groaned in pain, even stopping its wing flapping. Soon after, the truck-sized monster’s body fell to the ground with a thud! It was the moment the citizens watching from inside the building widened their eyes like lanterns.
“Wow, that’s insane.”
“It died just from him touching it?”
“Who is that person? Does that kind of ability exist?”
It does. It’s just not well-known because it’s extremely rare.
“I guess he’s an offensive-type Esper after all.”
“I totally thought he was a Guide. Or a Healer or Barrier Master.”
Dawoon tried his best to tune out the citizens’ murmuring and attention. He took a breath while stopping his mouth that had almost unconsciously answered that he was indeed a Healer.
“Esper Jeong Dawoon, sir! We’ll handle the cleanup!”
Dawoon, who’d covered his mouth, only nodded. Seeing Dawoon’s complexion, which had turned drastically pale after defeating the monster, the flustered rookies moved even more briskly.
“I only knocked it out, so finish it off and call the purification team right away.”
“Yes! Please go inside!”
Dawoon picked up the convenience store plastic bag he’d briefly set on the ground. He too was in civilian clothes like the rookies, since today was a precious day off.
After being tormented by a busy schedule, he’d finally obtained a day off, and yet he’d ended up using his ability again.
“Hah…”
I really should have just rested today.
Dawoon entered a deserted alley and leaned against the wall. Cold sweat formed on his pure white forehead as he slowly exhaled. He tried to somehow calm his stomach, but nausea eventually surged up.
“Urk, hngh…”
The sticky liquid that came out mixed with stomach acid was red. As Dawoon spat out pale crimson saliva, bright red blood finally flowed from his mouth.
“Ptoo!”
Dawoon’s expression after spitting blood was merely indifferent. There was no surprise or trace of seriousness. Rather, he rolled his eyes and even mocked his own frail body.
“Why don’t you just spit out your organs while you’re at it.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a thick clump of blood gushed out. As if to inform him that this was his body now, so please cherish it.
