The Dog Chases the Cat’s Tail 3

‘I denounce the discrimination against Old Humans at the prestigious Seoul First University.’

The public campaign was fairly successful. It was a critique of something everyone knew but pretended to ignore. The progressive media that always held protests against beta discrimination supported Woojae’s claim. After a fairly noisy fight, Woojae successfully moved into Seoul First University’s alpha dormitory—Magnolia Hall. It was because the only remaining room was in the alpha dormitory.

“Good job, Go Woojae.”

Woojae smiled victoriously in the bleak dormitory room, encouraging himself. The only problem he currently faced was just one thing. The bedding he’d ordered by delivery hadn’t arrived yet.

Woojae opened the lid of the simply packed carrier. Two large hoodies, five t-shirts, three pairs of pants, three sets each of underwear and socks, and one pair of slippers—that was everything. He planned to make do with just the one coat he’d worn here. He’d come this far surviving on part-time jobs in a poverty-stricken household. It wasn’t the stage to feel sorrowful about such clothing anymore.

‘I’ll have to buy the rest here……’

Even the small carrier had been something discarded near his house that he’d cleaned thoroughly. Could he survive well in this school full of nothing but the upper class? He was a bit worried, but as always, he quickly shook it off.

What can’t I survive? I can do it. Woojae folded and put his clothes into the provided drawers, burning with fighting spirit. He finished unpacking by placing even his secondhand laptop on the desk. It was obvious it would get messy before long, but at least for today he wanted to enjoy the organized feeling.

“Roommate……”

Woojae, lying on the bed, muttered blankly. The period when dormitory move-in was possible was only three days. Before that, all freshmen had to move into the dormitory. They said there were no remaining rooms in the dormitory itself, and seeing that he’d received the number 2 spot, it was an obvious fact that he had a roommate. They’d come within those three days.

What kind of guy would it be? Even if he could let the other guys slide, he’d see his roommate’s face every day, so he only hoped they’d be a normal human being.

“Please be at least ordinary.”

Preferably shorter than me if possible. Woojae stretched out his legs and closed his eyes while having slightly petty thoughts. He tried to close his eyes briefly until the delivery arrived, but ended up falling asleep just like that. He’d inadvertently fallen asleep on a mattress without any bedding. But whether due to fatigue, released tension, or thanks to the truly excellent mattress, he was able to sleep more deeply than ever.

Waking up, Woojae looked at the sunlight pouring into the room as if flooding in, thanks to the window that took up more than half the wall.

“……Still hasn’t come.”

Neither the delivery nor the roommate had arrived yet. It was strange that the roommate hadn’t appeared even by today, the second day of move-in. After finishing a simple shower, Woojae decided after consideration to look around inside the dormitory.

Of course, he’d already learned approximate information and the layout of the dormitory through the dormitory homepage. Knowledge is power, know your enemy and know yourself and you’ll win every battle—two of Woojae’s many mottos were exactly like that, so he chose to go out rather than stay cooped up in the dormitory room.

“Hello.”

“Ah, yeah. The beta student. What was your name again?”

The security guard he encountered in front of the elevator while passing through the 7th floor corridor greeted Woojae.

“Go Woojae.”

“Oh yeah, work hard at school from now on, and if you get sick or anything, come find the security office. I can give you basic medicine anytime.”

“Yes, thank you.”

He seemed like a pretty decent person. The eyes looking at him were quite favorable too. Woojae bowed his head while looking at the security guard who spoke to him warmly.

“First……”

He stepped forward while recalling the facility guide map he’d seen on the dormitory homepage.

Seoul First University’s dormitory consisted of a total of four buildings. Woljugwan, the omega female student dormitory, Iljugwan, the alpha female student dormitory, Suryeongwan, the omega male student dormitory, and Magnolia Hall, the alpha male student dormitory. Where Woojae was staying was Magnolia Hall, the alpha male student dormitory. Each dormitory was built in an elongated form up to the 7th floor and down to the 1st basement level, and each floor had a small study room and lounge. As a result of going down the stairs and looking around, it was indeed as described.

Uniquely, the basement connected all the buildings together, with a system where the doors connecting to each dormitory closed after midnight, having been open since breakfast time. In the basement, there was one laundry shop that took money from dormitory students to do laundry and repairs, and there was also a self-service laundry room for each dormitory. The washing machines in the self-service laundry room had card payment readers and coin slots where you could insert cash.

“It’s clean.”

Though the kids attending this school probably don’t even know how to run a washing machine anyway. Woojae slightly revised his future laundry plans while engraving in his eyes the price of single-use detergent sold at the vending machine.

“Buying detergent in bulk would be cheaper……”

But he couldn’t use all that detergent alone, so it was a dilemma. He didn’t know who his roommate would be, but if they were a decent guy, he thought about suggesting they split the cost and buy bulk detergent to share.

‘For now I’ll have to make do with hand-washing.’

Woojae looked around various parts of the dormitory while passing students moving in one or two at a time in the lobby. In the center of the four dormitory buildings was a dome-shaped garden. As an overall impression, the dormitory was spacious and comfortable throughout.

“A prestigious university is nice after all.”

Indeed, it was a luxury Woojae had never once enjoyed in his 20 years of life. Yesterday he’d been too distracted to look properly, but the lobby and garden were nothing short of a hotel. Not that he’d ever been to a hotel. Naturally the old house and shabby neighborhood came to mind, but he deliberately erased them.

Woojae exited Magnolia Hall and looked around. According to the facility guide map, this way is……

“The back gate, right? I should check it out once.”

The back gate was close to the athletic field, so he’d definitely go there often. Woojae had the ambition to get his money’s worth from all the school’s facilities. And the moment Woojae stepped toward the back gate side of the dormitory complex, someone’s breathing could be heard from a secluded spot.

“Haa, ah.”

“Move.”

“……Let’s have sex.”

What kind of conversation is this? Woojae’s face contorted at the content whose context he couldn’t understand. Eavesdropping on other people’s conversations wasn’t good, but it was the way he was going anyway. The guys having a weird conversation on the road are the problem. I need to pass through.

“Nnh, have sex with me……”

The sticky voice belonged to an unknown male. But the one who said to move earlier sounded like a man too. Something was strange, but first of all it was disgusting. To do such obscene things at a sacred school. It’s not even a third-rate porno.

Saying such things outdoors in broad daylight, they didn’t seem to be in a normal state. He’d heard well enough that New Humans had something called a heat cycle, but witnessing it directly was shocking. He thought about turning back, but at the same time he didn’t want to. What crime had he committed that he should go to the trouble for guys doing obscene things on the road when there was a faster route?

“Quickly, hk, stick it in me.”

His expression involuntarily frowned at the nauseating line that followed.

“Ugh……”

What’s supposed to be superior about them? They’re just like beasts.

Is it okay to pass through? If by any chance someone was naked, it would be better to take a detour even if longer. He didn’t want the experience of having his eyes rot. In the end, the scene Woojae saw as he poked his head through the tree branches was as follows: A man with an athlete-like build was leaning against the wall, and a man who looked much smaller was burying his face in the big guy’s chest. Two men clinging together like that was just unfamiliar.

The one with his face buried kept repeatedly taking deep breaths in and out. The rough breathing made him look like he’d done drugs or something. And while Woojae was looking at him pathetically, his eyes met with the big guy who’d been hidden in the shadows.

‘He’s got a good-looking face, at least.’

Woojae glared at the face of the big guy who was so handsome beyond just good-looking that it was annoying. You could say he’s a celebrity and I’d believe it. He’d never had such thoughts looking at someone else’s face—Woojae only ever admired himself in front of the mirror—but the big guy really had looks that hurt other people’s self-esteem. And the big guy shook off the man wrapping his arms around his waist and opened his mouth.

“Fuck off.”

A low, ominous voice came from the big guy’s mouth. The man thrown to the ground seemed to have lost strength in his legs, as he trembled on the ground and ended up grabbing the big guy’s pant leg.

“How can, haa, you, be completely unaffected……?”

“You’re low quality, so fuck off.”

The big guy who’d shaken him off again as if kicking him away with his foot started walking with large strides. Only then did Woojae realize that the big guy’s face was precisely directed at him. His stride was so large that the big guy, who’d approached right in front of him in an instant, pushed Woojae’s shoulder hard. At the sudden impact, Woojae frowned. Even though he was just pushed, considerable pain rushed in.

“Ugh, what the-.”

“Hey. Don’t eavesdrop on other people’s conversations unless you’re a fucking rat. Unless you want to get fired.”

Fired? Woojae, having suddenly received an incomprehensible threat, froze blankly and ruminated on the big guy’s words.

“That bastard thinks I’m an employee here right now, doesn’t he?”

Woojae’s judgment was correct. At this school with only omegas or alphas, he as a beta originally couldn’t exist unless he was an employee. And by the time he realized that statement came from racist ideology, the big guy had already left.

"……So you're saying you want to be friends with me right now?" "That's not really appealing. You figure it out yourself." Though it's puzzling why Sajun keeps appearing before him and pestering him annoyingly, his curiosity about him gradually grows. Meanwhile, Sajun, who is congenitally unable to smell pheromones, feels confused as he's drawn to an unknown scent coming from Woojae, who is a beta.... [Preview] "Go Woojae, stop climbing up." "Climbing up? Do you want to die?" "It's not like I enjoy being stuck next to you either. You're an eyesore. Why do you keep catching my eye?" Woojae's face twisted fiercely. "You can just walk past me, you fucking bastard! We're in the same department and next-door neighbors—how am I supposed to avoid you at school? Just pretend you don't know me in moderation. Like you do with other people!" "You're different from other people. You keep getting in my sight. I want to know why." The grip strength that firmly grasped his hand to prevent him from putting force into the hand clutching his collar was strong. Woojae panted and found that answer for him instead. "Because you hate me! I hate you too! Why do you keep bothering me?" "No, you're wrong. It doesn't resonate with me." It was utterly incomprehensible. There was nothing wrong with his words, yet Gye Sajun, who firmly stated he was wrong, was not a person within the realm of understanding. The moment Woojae stared at him with a twisted expression, an unpleasant hardness was felt beneath his buttocks. Woojae, who had been struggling violently, stopped moving and focused on the sensation. It was an unfamiliar feeling, but it definitely felt disgusting. What the hell is this? Woojae looked at Gye Sajun with a flustered expression. "Ah.... You're hard." Soon, unbelievable words flowed from Gye Sajun's mouth. Woojae's face, as he ruminated on that meaning, was instantly stained with shock. In an instant, goosebumps spread eerily down his spine. Hard. A firm feeling. The two keywords flickered in Woojae's mind. Immediately, Woojae shook off Gye Sajun's hand as if burned and sprang up. "You crazy gay bastard! If you catch my eye one more time, I'll crack your skull open! Just you wait!"
