After being tensely focused on driving for the first time in a while, Haeyoung safely finished parking and got out of the car. The date location was an ice rink on the outskirts of Seoul. Contrary to his expectation that there would be many people because it was Christmas, there were surprisingly fewer than expected, which puzzled him, but it seemed they operated by taking reservations by time slot.
Haeyoung and Sehee, who had monopolized the ice rink, stood at the entrance of the ice rink wearing skates instead of their regular shoes. Though the blades were sharp, standing and maintaining balance on solid ground wasn’t difficult.
Come to think of it… I’ve never been to a skating rink with Seonwoo hyung. Haeyoung, who had unconsciously thought of Seonwoo, startled himself and shook off the thought.
Still, he couldn’t help but feel relieved that the date with someone other than him was in an unfamiliar place. If they had gone to a place he’d been to before, he would have been immersed in even deeper memories. Swallowing the bitterness lingering in his mouth, Haeyoung stepped onto the ice first.
Then he turned around and spoke to Sehee, who was following him onto the ice.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been to a skating rink. I think this is almost my first time since I was a kid.”
She, who had positioned herself quite skillfully, soon looked at him with wide eyes and asked.
“You haven’t been here on dates with your lovers?”
At those words, Haeyoung stopped short and looked down at Sehee blankly with a face that couldn’t hide his flustered state. He felt pricked by those words, as if she had read his mind when he had just been thinking about Seonwoo.
She knows everything…. A little sense of injustice rippled inside him. He found it mischievous that she would ask such a question even though she knew. His refreshing eyes, which had been scanning the playfulness on Sehee’s face, stretched long to the side.
“Have you been, noona?”
“I have.”
The answer was unhesitating. Haeyoung was rather surprised by the answer that popped out so unfiltered.
No matter how much she had no romantic feelings for him, he wondered if it was okay to be this honest while filming. Seeing him looking at her with eyes that had quickly rounded, unable to find words to respond, Sehee giggled.
“With a friend.”
At the answer that followed, Haeyoung realized she had been teasing. His head, which he had been holding stiffly upright due to tension at her voice clearly tinged with laughter, tilted forward as if dropping.
Through the hair scattering before his eyes, Haeyoung watched Sehee reproachfully.
“…Noona, you’re mean.”
“Ahahaha.”
She, who finally burst into laughter, raised her hand and lightly patted Haeyoung’s back. Following Sehee, who familiarly took the lead skating, Haeyoung also let out a deflated laugh and moved his legs.
He glided across the ice and leisurely caught up to Sehee, who had been ahead. Seeing Haeyoung approach her side so easily, she opened her eyes wide. It was an expression of surprise.
“You saying it’s been a while was a lie, wasn’t it? You skate too well.”
“I’m originally good at all sports.”
Haeyoung laughed playfully and casually bragged. Even Sehee chuckled along at his boasting that wasn’t unlikeable. Soon, she lightly poked the arm of Haeyoung, who was leisurely skating beside her, and suddenly started picking up speed.
“Then let’s see who’s faster. Start!”
Watching her dash off after arbitrarily shouting start, Haeyoung briefly wore an absurd expression. Sehee crossed the ice with all her might, not holding back at all. He also belatedly picked up speed, staring blankly at the long brown hair fluttering as if bouncing at that speed.
The victory of the suddenly started skating match went to Sehee as if predetermined. Beside her, breathing hot air on the midwinter ice, Haeyoung laughed as if absurd and fanned himself with his hand.
The place they headed to after that was a restaurant. Befitting Christmas, there were couples holding hands and walking here and there in the alley leading to the restaurant, so the two had to keep glancing at each other and suppressing their laughter the entire walk. What the production team had wanted was probably a similar picture to that, but it was quite funny that there was no tension or flutter circulating between them.
Anyway, the restaurant they found was fine dining centered on Western cuisine. Perhaps because it was Christmas, the shop decorated with a year-end atmosphere had only the two of them again. Haeyoung looked around the high-class atmosphere of the shop and thought they must have spent quite a bit on production costs.
“It really feels like Christmas.”
Sehee muttered as if to herself while taking off her coat and placing it on the chair. Haeyoung also nodded in agreement.
With the table empty since the food hadn’t come out yet, Haeyoung poured water and passed it to Sehee. She, who signaled thanks with her eyes, sipped the water and asked.
“Today was fun, wasn’t it.”
“Yes, it was fun.”
Haeyoung raised his gaze while pouring water into his own cup. Seeing the smile that slipped onto his lips and his head readily nodding, Sehee wore a satisfied expression.
“Me too.”
At the answer that came out as if it were obvious, Haeyoung once again thought it fortunate that his first date was with her. Because if it had been with someone who showed clear interest in another cast member, or with a cast member who was really trying to get to know others with romantic feelings, he would have inevitably felt sorry.
Of course, he had appeared knowing he’d have to accept this, but being selfish didn’t mean he could be completely unbothered by it. That’s why he was grateful to Sehee, who had openly revealed that she too had appeared for purposes other than romance, and his time with her wasn’t uncomfortable.
Though they couldn’t have sincere conversations being conscious of the filming cameras, the two finished their meal while occasionally conversing. Since they didn’t drink alcohol, Haeyoung took the wheel himself again.
Winter being a season when the sun sets early, by the time they arrived near home, a purple twilight was already spread across the sky. After parking the car in the parking lot and turning off the engine, Sehee got out of the car first. Haeyoung, who was following her out, let out a short sigh as if he had forgotten.
“Ah. Wait a moment, noona.”
“Hm?”
He opened the back door of the car and took out a small shopping bag from inside. When the logo stamped on the white paper bag hanging from his hand looked familiar and puzzlement rose on Sehee’s face.
Haeyoung, who had approached her, handed over the shopping bag he was holding with a tone as if he had almost forgotten.
“This is a Christmas present.”
“What? Uh, really…? Really?”
Sehee received what Haeyoung offered in a daze. It was clear she was surprised, as if she hadn’t imagined at all that she would receive a present. At her excessively surprised appearance when he had expected her to receive it with her usual cheerful laugh, asking what this was, Haeyoung deliberately opened his mouth casually.
“You gave me a present too, noona.”
“This is a bit… unexpected.”
She, who had been blinking in apparent confusion, soon showed her familiar smile. Seeing Sehee looking up at him with her usual playful smile, Haeyoung also relaxed and smiled lightly.
Yoon Haeyoung followed her as she quickly moved her steps, saying she would hurry back to her room to open it. However, he also stopped walking following Sehee, who suddenly stopped as if blocked by a wall.
“Uh……”
A voice full of confusion flowed out softly from Sehee’s mouth. The level of confusion was incomparable to before. However, the one who turned paler and froze more than her was Haeyoung.
The face that had been circling in his head all day was right before his eyes.
“…Hyung.”
His gaze met with Seonwoo, who was standing in front of the stairs leading up to the house. A stupidly trembling voice came out of his mouth without him knowing.
Unlike Haeyoung, who was clearly troubled no matter who looked at him, he looked at Haeyoung for a moment and then gently lifted the corners of his mouth.
“You’re back?”
It was clear who that affectionate greeting was directed at. Sehee let out an awkwardly broken laugh and answered as if nonchalant, passing by him. With her quick exit, only the two of them remained in front of the stairs.
“Go in first.”
The low voice that flowed out as if knowing his hesitant heart settled heavily on Haeyoung. Even so, seeing Haeyoung unable to easily move his feet, Seonwoo let out a sigh mixed with laughter. Then he said he had somewhere to go out for a bit and raised his hand to lightly shake the car key he was holding.
Both asking if he was okay and saying sorry would be deception. Having things to say but unable to say them, Haeyoung, who had been frozen stiff, took steps as if running away. The gaze that flew from behind followed him all the way up the stairs.
Haeyoung, who had come straight up to the second floor without rest, opened the door to his room right away, leaving behind the voices coming from the common space. Still wearing his outer clothes, he headed to the bathroom and grabbed the sink, turning on the water.
Whoosh, his gaze glaring at the roughly pouring water stream seemed to have become like a stone. Water droplets dripped onto his fingers gripping the sink so tightly his bones protruded.
After wetting his hands for a while, Haeyoung, who had washed his face along with a suppressed sigh, came back out to the bedroom without even thinking to wipe off the moisture. The steps stretching out vigorously had no leisure, as if being chased by someone.
He opened the bag placed beside the bed and took out the shopping bag inside. Inside the neatly wrapped shopping bag was the perfume he had chosen together on the day he picked out Sehee’s present.
An item Haeyoung, who for nearly a year had never once spent money carelessly, purchased for the first time as an extravagance. Originally, he had planned to just buy Sehee’s present on the way home from work. However, when the familiar scent brushed past his nose while walking, Yoon Haeyoung had no choice but to stop. Though he had purchased it impulsively, on the way home, he had clutched his head several times, reproaching himself for his actions.
Holding it, Haeyoung approached Seonwoo’s bed and stopped at the head of it. Hesitating, he put the shopping bag down on the bed and glared at his present lying there forlornly with his lips pressed tightly together. Haeyoung, who had been standing in silence for a while, eventually reached out his hand again and picked up the shopping bag.
“Ha.”
Exhaling the breath he had been holding, he turned around again and came back to stuff the shopping bag into his bag. The item, now crumpled unlike before from being roughly shoved in, sat embedded in the bag, and Haeyoung, who had been looking at it, eventually just sat down as he was.
Fuck. He buried his face in his arms, swallowing the curse that had risen to his throat. Perhaps because his face had been wet, the clothes touching his eyes became dampened.
Why did I stupidly buy it, when I can’t even give it to him. I shouldn’t give it to him—that’s right. I know. Even knowing that, Haeyoung’s eyes grew hot, caught by the smile he had just seen. The unexpressed sadness of the person you love ultimately hurts both people.
In the end, a sob he couldn’t hold back burst out quietly from Haeyoung’s mouth.
“Ngh……”
Seonwoo, whenever he came home first, always waited for him with the lights on. So Haeyoung had no choice but to expose his wretchedness as is, curled up small in the bright room.
The desire not to hurt the other person when the relationship had already ended was greed and hypocrisy. His poor heart was stripped bare under the gentle lighting, having come to resemble someone.

[Full of sincerity! Good work!]
[Fucking thank you, even though I already saw these scenes, I’m fluttering again]
└22 hahahahahaha Grinning like an idiot while scrolling
[The face chemistry is so good cry cry Sehee looks like Yoon Shinyoung, she’s so pretty]
└Yoon Shinyoung for real
└She also has a Park Jiyu feel to her
[Really, I love it, the two of them should film a pure romance comic…cry Why are both of them so pretty when they smile??]
[I keep watching the close-up shot without realizing it..haha]
└Agree, it’s a scroll-stopping section hahahahaha
[Yoon Haeyoung asking whether to put her hair up or down, honestly isn’t that scripted?]
└Script confirmed, there’s no way to just blurt out a line like that
└Crazy, he asks that question and happens to get a face close-up so he’s fucking charming
└And then after that when Sehee says both are handsome, he says he knows and goes “I’m curious about noona’s taste though?” This is 100% scripted hahahahahahaha But I forgave it even if it’s script haha
└This is the real deal, the panelists’ expressions at that moment are my expression, cheeky younger guy hahahahaha
[I’m curious about noona’s taste though… thump thump
I’m curious about noona’s taste though… thump thump
I’m curious about noona’s taste though… thump thump]
[Wow he’s fucking handsome, this is just real-life heart-fluttering..]
[So good cry cry cry cry Thank you for the sincerity!]
[Haeyoung-Sehee date is cute]
Isn’t an ice skating rink supposed to be about holding each other’s hands and pulling each other along creating a fluffy atmosphere? No matter what, they’re in a “some” relationship but cry What are they doing sprinting at full speed like that cry hahahahahaha In the midst of it, they keep looking at each other and smiling, but why is that making me flutter…

[It was already over when Sehee asked if he’d been on an ice skating date with a lover hahahaha]
└I ended here too, Haeyoung loses to Sehee but also kind of doesn’t give up.. Is this the charm of a younger guy..?
└22 I’m learning the charm of younger guys here cry
[When I saw him deliberately grab the wall to slow down when Haeyoung was about to arrive, I just thought he went crazy haha If he had kept going, he would have won]
└And then saying next time he won’t lose is legendary… Casually making a next appointment, right?
└He’s a fox… When it’s romance shows, people complain about female participants being foxes, but in Love Line that doesn’t come up because the male participants are doing it all haha
[The two of them glancing at each other and smiling every time they make eye contact is so cute~]
└Agree nom nom good~
└It’s literally a drama….haha From the start to the end of the date, it’s the most fun, Haeyoung-Sehee works
└I wish they’d give more Haeyoung-Sehee backstory for real, production team
[Cha Seonwoo’s date was sexy but]
Honestly I think the face did everything. I’m writing this after seeing the post below saying Minho-Dain’s date was the most boring, that’s right confirmed confirmed
Soyoon kept sending texts to Seonwoo from the second day and if you watch the date, it’s obvious she has feelings for Seonwoo. But? Does Seonwoo seem to have interest in Soyoon as a romantic partner from start to finish? Objectively, no…
Seonwoo treats all the female participants with that same level of warmth confirmed confirmed He doesn’t seem particularly drawn to anyone either (though it hasn’t progressed much yet) Rather, I understand Minho being soulless toward Dain because he fell for Soyoon at first sight
But I think Seonwoo is a money catcher… Conclusion: Soyoon-ah, catch Minho….

[Money catcher confirmed hahahahahahahahahaha]
[That’s what I’m saying hahaha You can clearly see Minho doesn’t have feelings for Dain, but whenever Seonwoo is unclear, they suddenly do a face close-up and play background music… Then I just get mesmerized and watch from Soyoon’s perspective hahahahaha]
└Fuck this is right hahahahahaha The Love Line music team works especially hard, in a good way though haha
[His face is so Michelin-level it’s fun]
└Agree He listens attentively to everything Soyoon says and gets so charming every time he smiles…haha
[This is exactly the feeling I had while watching… You can clearly see Soyoon has fallen for him but Seonwoo? Not so much?]
[It’s still early to say he’s a money catcher, that’s too much speculation…cry Appearing on this kind of program means he has goals to build recognition (not trying to generalize!), but Seonwoo’s job is just a regular office worker and he doesn’t even have Instagram, so it seems like he appeared without greed….]
└Usually these programs contact people through Instagram DMs, don’t they??
└I don’t know well either, but there aren’t only those routes, are there?
└Wow I didn’t know he doesn’t have Instagram hahaha How did they even cast him
[Seonwoo’s pick is Haeyoung]
└hahahahahahahahahaha I agree with this
└22 Not lying, his eyes are dripping with honey when he’s eating with Haeyoung before work
└Fucking hilarious, guys appearing on a dating show eating together and commuting to work together fuck hahahahaha cry cry cry cry
[I get how Soyoon feels, even I would like Seonwoo…hahaha From the scene where he first appears, the atmosphere was different, I thought he was an unknown celebrity so I searched Instagram but he doesn’t come up…]
└For an unknown person, his face can’t be unknown…
└Agree but it’s even weirder that he’s a regular person
