Even Though I’m a Guy, He Likes Me? 13

“Oh, my feedback.”

“I figured you weren’t really watching, so I didn’t ask.”

“Who said I wasn’t watching? I was paying close attention.”

Of course, he hadn’t actually been paying close attention at all. Spacing out, occasionally glancing at his phone — he might as well have been a mannequin propped up in the corner.

Lee Yura and Choi Woosu had diligently given each other feedback after every speech, but Han Bohyeon hadn’t offered any to anyone. With sharp, precise Choi Woosu already pointing out every flaw, there had been no need to ask for more feedback.

But once practice ended and only he and Lee Yura were left, Han Bohyeon suddenly offered to give her feedback. The quest that opened here — [Ⅱ-2] — was one of his personal favorites.

At Han Bohyeon’s offer to give her feedback, Lee Yura ends up mistakenly believing he had been focused on her the whole time. A System window had appeared showing her thought: that she’d apparently not known Han Bohyeon as well as she thought, and calling herself a failure as a friend.

Since the quest had started on the walk home with Yang Inho, he’d had no choice but to watch it unfold through the System window. If he had been there in person, he would have wanted to tell Lee Yura that Han Bohyeon genuinely hadn’t been watching her — she was just that oblivious and sweet.

[“How was I? Could you tell I was really nervous?”]

“Yeah — watching from below, I could really see your chin doubling up.”

“Wh-what? Hey!”

[Answer.

  1. “Figures. I knew it was just another joke.” She clicks her tongue and turns away.
  2. “I’m not letting you get away with this!” She starts wildly swinging her fists.]

Choosing option 2, Lee Yura rose up on her tiptoes and swung her fists like a windmill — but no matter how much she flailed, Han Bohyeon didn’t take a single hit. She got so worked up she even flung her bag at him, but he caught it effortlessly and held her back.

[“Why are you so violent?”

“Because you keep teasing me!”

“Your reactions are just too funny.”

“Han Bohy—!”

“You did well.”

“Huh?”

“You were great.”

The compliment hit her out of nowhere, and the moment she looked up, it felt like her brain short-circuited. Bohyeon had been staring down at her, and when their eyes met, he smiled — and why did her heart suddenly skip a beat?

“What are you staring at.”

“It’s just — you said my chin was doubling up, and now you’re saying I did great, so……”

She’d been looking at those eyes for over ten years, and yet somehow she couldn’t hold his gaze, so she looked away. Her voice turned into a whine and gradually got smaller, her eyes fixed to the floor. Then her shoulders gave a little flinch — because Bohyeon’s hand had come to rest on the back of her head and was gently stroking her hair. He had moments of being affectionate sometimes, but something felt off about him doing this right now. The fact that he was slowly drawing closer to her made it worse.

His face came so close that it wasn’t their breath that was about to touch, but their eyelashes. She struggled and squirmed for him to let go, but he didn’t seem like he would, so she squeezed her eyes shut.

“Why are you closing your eyes.”

“I, I don’t know.”

“You looked pretty.”

“……Huh?”

“I almost fell for you.”

“Wh-, wh-wha, wh, wh.”

“Are you an idiot? Speak properly.”

“Ow!”]

Bohyeon flicked her on the forehead — and whether it was because he worked out or not, it hurt like crazy. Tears pricked at her eyes and she glared at him, but her heart, pounding so hard she could hear it in her ears, refused to settle down.]

[Quest Complete!]

[Han Bohyeon’s affection toward Lee Yura has increased by 7%.]

[♡45%]

[Lee Yura’s affection toward Han Bohyeon has increased by 10%.]

[♡34%]

Han Bohyeon wasn’t even a capture target, yet Lee Yura’s affection jumping by 10% was an exceptional number — something only possible because of this particular quest. Quest Ⅱ-2, always cited as the most beloved quest among players, made even the viewers’ hearts flutter, but it was also nicknamed the “jackpot quest” because it gave the single largest boost to Lee Yura’s affection out of any quest in the game.

The majority of players who had Han Bohyeon as their favorite had gotten into him because of this quest — and he was one of them. He should have been able to witness that scene in person, and it was a shame he’d only seen it through the System window.

And the entrance ceremony speech was tied very deeply not just to these characters, but to yet another one.

“We will now begin the 20xx entrance ceremony for FMB High School.”

He had been thinking about the quest while watching Han Bohyeon when, before he knew it, the voice announcing the start of the entrance ceremony rang out. They probably named it “FMB High School” after the abbreviation for the game — Find My Boyfriend. The complete lack of effort made him snort out a laugh the moment he heard it.

Yang Inho gave him a puzzled look at the sudden laugh, and he brushed it off with a vague excuse before turning his attention back to the ceremony. He’d felt the same way at the graduation ceremony, but it was so indistinguishable from real life that it was deadly dull. He only managed to concentrate when it finally got to the new student speech near the very end.

“Congratulations on your enrollment, new students. That concludes the congratulatory address. Thank you.”

“Thank you.”

Both of the students who had given the speech were from their class, so their class in particular erupted into cheers. Lee Yura had been a little nervous — her tongue slipped slightly at one point — but for a first time, she’d done quite well. Choi Woosu — as much as he didn’t want to admit it — had pulled it off without a hitch. Truly the model student who had never once missed out on a student council position.

Having finally set down a burden she’d been carrying, Lee Yura looked over at Choi Woosu and smiled — and at that, Han Bohyeon’s leg, which had been trembling nonstop, visibly stilled. Part of him wanted to put Han Bohyeon in that spot instead, but there was no way to put him up there in place of Choi Woosu when he wouldn’t even take on the role of class treasurer. It was simply unfortunate.

As Lee Yura stepped off the stage, a loud shout burst out from among the incoming students: “Class rep! Noona!” Lee Yura looked startled and pointed at herself as if hoping it wasn’t her they were calling. The male student, apparently seeing that, shouted again: “Yes, you, noona!”

Looking toward the source of the sound, one male student was standing apart from the other new students. Lee Yura pointed to herself again as if to ask are you sure it’s me?, and the male student nodded.

“You’re so pretty, noona!”

“Wh-what?”

The auditorium dissolved into laughter at the boldness of a student who had only just become a high schooler. The embarrassment that followed was entirely Lee Yura’s to bear.

With all eyes on her, Lee Yura’s face flushed bright red. She covered her face with her velvet case, grabbed Choi Woosu, and hurried off the stage. Even from below the stage she seemed to catch the male student’s eye, because she ducked completely behind Choi Woosu’s back.

Watching that, he couldn’t help but smirk. But Choi Woosu, with Lee Yura now hidden behind him, and Han Bohyeon, looking down at the boy from above — both were radiating an enormous amount of killing intent.

After the entrance ceremony, the three gathered outside the auditorium. More precisely, Han Bohyeon had sought out Choi Woosu and Lee Yura, who had been together. The two were each comforting Lee Yura in their own way as she lamented that she’d stumbled over her words — and that was when the male student from earlier approached them.

“Noona!”

Lee Yura flinched the moment she heard the voice that had brought her such embarrassment, and Han Bohyeon and Choi Woosu moved to block the male student as if they’d coordinated it.

The new student bold enough to pull that stunt in a packed auditorium was the third capture target he had been waiting so eagerly for. Standing before the three of them with a face that was purely bright and cheerful, his name was Na Giyeon — soft pinkish hair, a cute face, exactly the type who, had he been an idol, would have had older female fans wrapped around his finger.

“Noona, you’re the class rep from orientation, right?”

“Oh, yeah. Probably.”

It seemed he’d already gotten on her bad side — Lee Yura, who was unfailingly kind to everyone, gave an unusually cool reply.

Their first meeting had been on orientation day. Lee Yura had been one of the students who had to come to school to supervise the incoming students and assist the supervising teacher.

One of the capture targets, Choi Woosu, confessed.

"I'm a man."

"I know."

"Are you out of your mind?"

"Well, who told you to make me lose it?"

Surprisingly, I was the one he confessed to — me, who had possessed the extra, Yeon Juwoo.

Choi Woosu, the male lead who exists solely for the female lead, by the female lead, and for the female lead — a devoted, straight-as-an-arrow, female-lead-only kind of man — was confessing to me?

And as if that weren't enough...

"Go out with me."

Then there was Han Bohyeon, the second capture target, who had spent over ten years looking at no one but the female lead.

"Date me."

And even Go Jin, the third capture target.

Capture targets confessing to an extra — and a male extra, at that?

It seemed like the capture targets had all lost their minds together.
