# Chapter 70
In the moment D.S hesitated, Seeun’s form disappeared. As the rope lost its target and fell limply to the floor, a voice echoed in the bathroom.
“A non-superhuman acting so arrogantly…”
It came from behind her.
BOOM!
Just as D.S instinctively rolled away, Seeun’s foot crashed down where she had been. With the sound of breaking tiles, the floor caved in deeply. Probably some form of strength enhancement. An ability from a completely different category than the superpower she had been showing off with the bracelet.
If she originally had superpowers, this meant she had two abilities when combined with the bracelet’s power. Confronting her head-on would be dangerous. Clicking her tongue, D.S grabbed a round bead from her handbag instead of her phone and threw it. It was fortunate that she had made some self-defense items due to the recent unrest around her workshop.
With a popping sound, smoke leaked from the broken bead.
The white mist that rapidly billowed out filled the bathroom. The thick fog that settled in the rather spacious area completely obscured not only D.S’s vision but Seeun’s as well.
“Do you think this will make much difference?”
A mocking voice came from somewhere. Thanks for speaking so loudly. D.S inwardly expressed gratitude as she removed her shoes and moved in the opposite direction of the voice.
It would be the obvious action for anyone with a brain, but Seeun seemed to be blocking the exit. The fog only obscured vision; it couldn’t block sound. Making a phone call would immediately reveal her location.
She needed to get outside, as she had no chance in this narrow bathroom. I’m really going through all this trouble because of Jung Iyeon and Han Sua. Planning to make them deeply indebted to her when she got out, D.S carefully hid under the sink.
Not knowing how powerful a superhuman Seeun was, escaping without injury was the priority. Iyeon and Sano should still be outside, and though reluctantly, Heesu would be there too.
‘Let’s do this.’
Taking a deep breath, D.S found and put on a thick ring from her handbag. It was a ring that would vibrate slightly when gi-ryeok was detected in close proximity. Next, she took out a round chip-like device, pressed a few buttons on the side, and attached it to the wall.
Tap. Tap. Tap. In an instant, several more chips were attached. She soon succeeded in attaching chips at regular intervals from one end of the sink to the other. Sitting in the corner of the sink, D.S manipulated her wristwatch. Two dots appeared on the round electronic display.
As long as Seeun walked with her feet on the floor, the scanning network created by the chips would show where she was, even in the thick fog.
“What is this? Such a useless trick…”
Young but with quite an attitude. D.S shook her head.
By moving carefully, she could avoid Seeun and leave the bathroom. Once out of this CCTV-blind spot, security guards would quickly notice the commotion, and that would be D.S’s victory. Cautiously, she emerged from under the sink. Though Seeun was completely hidden by the fog, according to the wristwatch, she was just two steps away from D.S.
Slowly inhaling, D.S moved very slightly. In the pressing silence, she advanced bit by bit, never taking her eyes off the direction where Seeun was. Sweat automatically gathered on her palms.
Fearing she might touch Seeun if she wasn’t careful, she pressed her back tightly against the wall. The coldness of the tiles penetrated to her nape, exposed by her hanging hair. It was perfect for calming her racing heart.
“Do you think you’ll win by playing for time?”
D.S froze at the voice that came from right beside her. She observed Seeun for a few seconds, but she just stood in place, only talking. Unable to see, she seemed to be trying to locate D.S by sound.
Convinced that Seeun didn’t know her position, D.S moved again.
It felt like decades had passed while she moved. Fortunately, she had nearly passed Seeun’s position. The door was right ahead. Just a little more. Just a bit. D.S frowned and completely pressed her head against the wall.
Ting.
A clear sound rang in her ear. Realizing what had made the noise, D.S unconsciously held her breath. The heavy ornament dangling elaborately from her ear.
It was the noise from D.S’s earring.
“Found you.”
Seeun turned her head with a chilling smile. The moment Seeun’s wildly swung arm touched D.S, she ran for the door without hesitation.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
Just before she could touch the doorknob, Seeun teleported right in front of the door and pushed D.S down. Instantly shoved inward, D.S fell, unable to resist the force. The heels she dropped rolled somewhere, and her knee stung as if scraped during the fall. Ah, damn it… D.S put her hand on the floor. Whether from the violent situation or her legs giving out, she couldn’t get up quickly.
Fortunately, due to the distance between them, the fog once again obscured their vision.
“Ah… I shouldn’t have pushed her.”
Along with Seeun’s irritated sigh came a rattling sound. D.S quickly realized the situation. The numerous bracelets scattered on the floor.
If any of the bracelets had a superpower that could dispel the fog, it would be troublesome. Just as D.S was about to take out another device from her handbag:
“Um… Is someone fighting in there?”
A lukewarm voice came from beyond the bathroom door. The dull, relaxed tone belonged to Jung Iyeon.
Speaking would immediately reveal her location, but she was beyond hiding now. D.S shouted with all her might.
“Jung Iyeon! Get in here!”
She heard Seeun’s footsteps quickly approaching after hearing D.S’s voice. Confirming Seeun’s position, D.S swiftly ducked her head. Boom. The sound of tiles breaking came from the wall right beside her. Some of the scattered fragments hit D.S’s body and fell.
“…D.S-ssi? Didn’t you leave?”
“Shut up and hurry in here!”
At D.S’s irritated response, there was a creaking sound as the door opened. As fresh air entered, the thick smoke that filled the narrow space quickly thinned. Before Seeun could recover her vision, D.S quickly moved her feet to increase the distance. Fortunately, since Seeun had come inside to chase D.S, getting to the exit wasn’t difficult.
“Ugh… Hey, that hurts.”
Before he could notice the white smoke pouring out the door, Iyeon, buried in Sano’s embrace and covered by his coat, grumbled. He couldn’t understand why it hurt so much just from bumping into someone’s body. His nose was stinging. The increased heartbeat from the warm contact came next.
The tender feelings were brief, as Sano, confirming the smoke posed no physical harm, dropped Iyeon as if discarding him. Only then could Iyeon, rubbing his slightly flushed cheeks, assess the situation inside the bathroom.
“D.S-ssi!”
Iyeon’s eyes widened. Her appearance was completely different from when he last saw her. Her hair was disheveled, and parts of her clothes seemed torn. Blood was flowing from her bright red knee.
“Are you okay? Can you walk?”
“I’m fine. My legs just feel weak.”
“What is this…”
As Iyeon approached D.S, a strong clicking of tongue and a short explosive sound came from inside. It was by no means a welcoming gesture.
He gauged the opponent’s position through the thinning fog where the silhouette was barely visible. The situation was perfect with everyone’s vision obscured.
Iyeon used his ability.
White shackles wrapped around the attacker’s ankles. Suddenly restrained by a strong force on both feet, the attacker lost balance and fell. Iyeon approached the sound of the crash.
“Ugh!”
“Who are you to do this to someone… Seeun-ssi?”
Iyeon stared with a dumbfounded expression at the woman lying on the floor glaring at him. It was a face he had encountered just a minute ago.
No, I left Seeun-ssi bound with handcuffs… Iyeon murmured blankly. Though dirtier now, her outfit and hair were identical to the Seeun he had seen earlier. Did she escape already? But the explosion was heard when they were together…
“Are your eyes crossed?”
It was Sano’s voice that subdued the confusion.
“That’s not Lee Seeun; it’s someone else.”
Only then did Iyeon realize that the face of this person glaring at him was subtly sharper than D.S and Seeun’s.
Judging by the bracelets scattered on the floor, this seemed to be the real dealer. What’s her relationship with Seeun-ssi? Simple disguise? Or…
“This is really…”
The dealer, clicking her tongue, reached out her hand. D.S quickly shouted:
“Strength enhancement or teleportation!”
As Sano, behind Iyeon, blinked, wire extending from the floor wrapped around the dealer’s wrist. Though the wire instantly removed the bracelet and tightened around the dealer, she immediately teleported to the side, escaping Sano’s ability.
“You won’t catch me with something like this.”
Looking at her sneering face, she was definitely different from Seeun.
For teleporters, physical restraints were practically useless. Among criminals, teleporters were the hardest superhumans to catch. Even if caught, they could just teleport elsewhere, as just demonstrated.
Of course, physical methods weren’t the only ways to detain someone.
Iyeon made a sound, “Hmm,” and held up what he had in his hand. The dealer would know better whose bracelet it was.
“You’re not asking what happened to Seeun-ssi?”
