At some point, blue light spread outside the window. He thought it was a passing light, but gradually red light mixed in. That light illuminated even the living room ceiling. Seonwoo approached the window, wetting his soles.
Two police cars were visible in front of the house. Two police officers who got out of the cars approached the gate. There was one more person following. It was dark, so he couldn’t see clearly.
Though no doorbell sound was heard, the gate opened. Somehow knowing the password, the police opened the door lock themselves and entered.
When somehow all of that felt distant, Taejeong approached his side.
“……”
While watching the police gradually getting closer across the garden, Seonwoo held out his palm stained with blood.
“Hold my hand.”
Had he realized the reality that would come crashing in from now on? It was an action Seonwoo himself couldn’t understand. So naturally he thought he would ignore it, but Taejeong silently held out his hand.
Thinking about it, Taejeong had always been like that. Even with a dubious face, if he stubbornly burrowed into his arms, he would pretend not to notice and cover him with the blanket.
A large hand overlapped. Though they had overlapped bodies several times every night, holding hands was the first time. He felt fingers firmly interlocking. Hot body temperature touched his skin. The sound of the front door opening faintly from afar was heard, and though the footsteps urgently climbing the stairs drew closer, Taejeong didn’t pull his hand away.
What was just that worth? Seonwoo thought that no matter what happened from now on, he would end up forgiving Taejeong for everything.
